Trusting the Unchanging God

Scripture:

Numbers 23:19 (NIV): "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?"

Devotional:

We live in a world that is marked by constant change and unpredictability. And in such moments, it is only prudent that we find solace in the unchanging nature of our God.

Numbers 23:19 reminds us of the steadfast character of our Heavenly Father—He is faithful, truthful, and unswerving in His promises.

The Immutability of God:

"God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind."

These words emphasize the divine nature of our Creator. Unlike humans who may falter or change their minds, God remains unwavering. His character is a bedrock of stability in our ever-shifting world.

Promises That Never Fail:

"Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?" The answer is a resounding "no."

When God speaks, His words carry the weight of certainty. His promises are not empty declarations; they are guarantees of His faithfulness. We can always take refuge in the fact that what He says, He accomplishes.

Our Anchor in Uncertainty:

As we journey through life, we often encounter situations that challenge our sense of security. But in the unchanging nature of God, we find our anchor. His promises provide us with a firm foundation on which to build our faith and trust.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for being an unchanging God in a changing world. Your faithfulness and truthfulness are our refuge and strength. Help us to anchor our trust in You, knowing that Your promises are sure. May we rest in the certainty of Your unwavering character. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
