What Is God's Will For Our Lives

Introduction:

As believers, one of the fundamental questions we often find ourselves contemplating is, "What is God's will for my life?" It is a quest to understand the purpose and direction God has for us. Thankfully, the Bible provides us with invaluable insights and guidance on this matter. By delving into Scripture, we can uncover timeless truths that shed light on God's will for our lives. So, let us embark on this spiritual journey of discovery and find assurance in understanding God's plan for us.

1. Seek First the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33):

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells His disciples, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." This verse emphasizes the importance of prioritizing God's kingdom above all else.

We ofen find ourselves being too busy with life that we forget that our lives are truly not our own, but of Him who placed us on this earth. Our primary focus should therefore be on aligning our lives with God's purposes, seeking His righteousness, and committing ourselves to His will. By doing so, we position ourselves to receive His blessings and guidance.

2. Trust in the Lord and Acknowledge Him (Proverbs 3:5-6):

The book of Proverbs reminds us, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." These verses encourage us to place our complete trust in God, surrendering our limited understanding to His infinite wisdom. When we acknowledge God in every aspect of our lives, seeking His guidance and relying on His direction, He promises to guide our paths and make them straight.

3. Walk in Love (Ephesians 5:1-2):

The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, urges believers to imitate God by walking in love. He writes, "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

As Christians, we have been taught and constantly reminded that God is Love. And because He is the perfect embodiment of Love, it is His will, that we too embody His love and reflect it to others. We are called to extend grace, forgiveness, and compassion, just as Christ did for us.

4. Do Justice, Love Kindness, and Walk Humbly (Micah 6:8):

Yet another scripture that can paint is a clear picture of what God’s will for our lives is is  Micah 6:8. The prophet Micah beautifully captures the essence of God's will when he says, "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

These words remind us that God desires us to live righteous lives, standing up for justice, showing kindness to others, and maintaining a humble posture before Him. Walking in accordance with these principles ultimately aligns us with His divine will.

5. Use Your Gifts to Serve Others (1 Peter 4:10-11):

It goes without saying that each and everyone of us has been bestowed with unique gifts and talents. And as aforementioned, none of us has been placed on this earth for our own accord or to fulfill our own desires.

Instead, God created us to fulfill a certain purpose and He has enabled us to do so using the various gifts and talents that He has granted unto us.

The apostle Peter reminds us, "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace."

God's will for our lives involves utilizing these gifts to bless and serve others. By employing our abilities and talents for the greater good, we participate in God's plan, bringing glory to His name.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, it is important to understand that discovering God's will for our lives is a lifelong journey. One that will require prayer, studying of the Word, and seeking God’s guidance because only then can we  uncover His plan and purpose for us.

As we surrender our lives to Him, placing Him first, trusting in His wisdom, walking in love, practicing justice and kindness, and utilizing our gifts to serve others, we align ourselves with God's perfect will.
